weeks 5-15

(gotta love the awkward preggo pics ha)

telling our families
we decided to tell our families the big news on mother's day/mother's day weekend.
we bought both of our moms a little onsie that said "grandma is the best"
and had them open them in front of everyone.
we told branden's family in the middle of dinner at red lobster and let's just say everyone was staring at us to see what all the screaming was for.
luckily we told my family at my moms house so there wasn't quite the scene :)
we tried facetiming my dad and step mom that night but weren't able to get a hold of them. they were coming up the next weekend for graduation and taysom's blessing anyway so we decided to wait and tell them in person!

just gonna add--- telling people you're pregnant is super awkward. amiright?

symptoms
for the first week or two it was hard to believe that i was pregnant.
then week 6 rolled around and i felt like crap.

i would throw up every morning when i brushed my teeth
and then someday's i would throw up 2 or 3 more times.
yuck.

food sounded gross and i was so thirsty all the time.
water tasted gross and soda left a weird taste in my mouth so
i drank a lot of gatorade.

after a few days of being sick i caved and called the doctors office
to see if there was anything i could take.
they called me in a prescription called phenergan but it didn't help a ton
and it made me so tired
i would go home for lunch and sleep for 30 minutes and then when i got home from work i would get in bed and fall asleep again.

so that wasn't working for me.
next they called in zofran and that's what i've been taking ever since.
it still didn't make me feel 100% but it helped sorta.

i've gotten quite a few migraines (which is the worst!)
and i even had to go to urgent care one night to get iv fluids
because i was so sick. not fun.

luckily the last few weeks i have started to gradually feel better.
it seems like the later the day gets, the sicker i feel.
which is weird because it seems like it's usually the opposite for most people.

so my two main symptoms have been nausea/vomiting
and headaches/migraines

hoping to be rid of both SOON!

doctors appointments
our first appointment was when i was 8 weeks. we met with the nurse and she basically just asked a million medical questions and gave us a little gift bag full of parenting magazines and some diapers and formula.

our second appointment was at 10 weeks. we met our doctor for the first time (love him!) and got to hear the heartbeat for the first time. it was almost a little suspenseful... we were waiting to hear something and then finally the quietest little heartbeat came up. sometimes they can't find a heartbeat that early and end up having to do an ultrasound but luckily we were able to hear ours! yayy! so crazy.

our third appointment was this monday when i was a little over 14 weeks. short and sweet. he measured my stomach and we got to hear the heartbeat again :)
one of the most exciting parts of this appointment was scheduling our follow up---
the appointment that we get to find out the gender!!
we scheduled it for monday, july 15th!
i can't believe that in less than 4 weeks we'll know if we're having a boy or girl!

predictions
i honestly have no idea what we're having.
i keep going back and forth trying to decide which i want
(i would love either of course) i've always wanted a boy first
but we have the perfect name that we both love picked out for a girl.
so either way it's a win-win. we just want a healthy babe!

that's all for now :)
